EducationUpdate 2012
Education is core to the operation of the AWF. From its routes in experiential learning
through to the emphasis placed on encouraging, facilitating and delivering educational
programmes through its project bases globally.
Key Areas Accredited educational courses
Run through our centres in Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka,Ghana, Honduras, Vietnam and Tenerife.
Volunteers, students, educational
groups can gain accredited academic credit in a wide range of programmes whilst
with us*.
AWF Resources
AWF Resources are amongst the most popular downloaded on TES, the world's
largest teacher resource network. Our latest addition to the TES website is on
Global Citizenship, facilitating students at all levels working through this website on
lesson plans that actively engage them in global citizenship through a broad range of
disciplines and interacting with young people from all over the world.
Education Provision
Provision of educational courses at all our project bases is free
to local people and we are particularly keen to facilitate full time education to all
children working in and around our project bases. The Plant a Tree, Fund a Dream
programme is key to our work in this area.
AWF Field Research Stations
The AWF is embarking on a construction programme of field research stations with plans to build these 80 bed centres in three locations in 2012 Ghana, Sri Lanka and either Guyana or Surinam.
For information on collaborating with these centres, please contact Ed on edb@whalenation.org Research
We have an active and growing support for Ph.Ds across our projects and
with aim to have resident Ph.Ds at all our project bases both facilitating research in a
broad range of issues and supporting younger students with their dissertation work.
Educational Groups
The AWF has a long history in supporting low cost educationalgroup visits and is now actively engaged in securing EU funding for such groups. *Accreditations applied for and should be in place by Autumn 2011 |
