What is an Earth Angel?
The word Angel has many different meanings and can be used in many different contexts. We, at the AWdF, see Angels as people who care passionately about the world, our world, and who want to ‘do something’; to give back in whatever space appeals to them be it concerning children, nature, the environment or human rights to name a few.
Our programme allows Angels to select a dedicated project and support it- gaining as much recognition for the benefits accruing to, and involvement in, ‘their’ project as they wish. They can see where every penny of their support goes …and the benefits it leads to.
Angels can be:
Do Angels have lots of Money!?
Not necessarily! It is nice if they have, simpler but not essential. What they must have is passion to do something and with this passion comes motivation, energy and tenacity and the potential for galvanising others to action.
How much is involved?
People can contribute as little or as much as they want through our community ‘Just Giving’ pages. Angels are expected to raise £7,500 for their cause and typically this funds half of the costs involved. They can raise more funds or other Angels can join with them or we will make up the difference- whatever it takes to make things happen.
What do we do with the funds raised?
Our work focuses around two key areas: Education and Enterprise, both of which are interlinked.
The core belief is that individuals can and will make a difference in their communities and just need some help to get on their feet. Education and support in creating a successful enterprise are two of the most powerful drivers available to empower individuals.
Education: Working in collaboration with local schools: Library facilities- buildings and books; Computers- space, equipment and training; sports facilities; Edexcel internationally accredited training courses in IT, Business, Entrepreneurship, Language, Environment and Conservation; Scholarships for poorer students.
Enterprise support: Business skills training; Business plan development and analysis; Seed funding; Product design; Web development; Marketing and Sales including internet based knowledge and skills.
Additional to the above, monies will help fund a local manager with whom our Angels have direct access, and ‘capacity build’ within communities as a priority.
Each project detailed below has specific goals for funds raised. Our approach is based on decades of experience and is designed to make a difference to some of the most disadvantaged communities on the planet, with the help of our community of Angels.
