pollution

-Environmental pollution (EP) is not a new phenomenon, yet it remains the world’s greatest problem facing humanity. With the rapid increase in anthropogenic industrialisation and urbanisation, EP, directly or indirectly, alters our surroundings.
EP can be categorised as:
  1. Air pollution (main type threatening the environment and all living organisms)
  2. Water pollution
  3. Soil/land pollution
  4. Noise pollution
  5. Radioactive pollution
  6. Thermal pollution

Water pollution, also called marine litter, has become a pervasive pollution problem affecting the world’s seas. In particular, micro-plastics, which negatively impacts marine wildlife due to ingestion and entanglement.

Actions that can be taken to reduce water pollution:

- Single-use Plastic Bans
- Taxes and Economic Incentives
- Product standards
- Extended producer responsibility
