Volunteers will work from three main bases with numerous options for further experience.
- On the whale watching boats working as research guides three days per week
- In the research room processing, analysing and interpreting data.
- In the Whale & Dolphin Information Centre in Puerto Colon, at the heart of the islands whale watching industry, interacting with the whale watching boats, tourists and the island’s tourism industry.
The Boats
The AWF works with 8 different tourist whale watching boats from three different ports
There are a variety of boats from a small 15 person yacht to a large 250 person catamaran. The range of vessels gives the volunteers fantastic experiences and memories but all volunteers end up having their favourite boat! |
The Research Room
The Research Room is in the main house in Arona. This is where you will be inducted on your arrival and where you will process all the data that you have collected whist out on the boats. If you are coming as an intern this is where you will spend a lot of time!
It is also where the nightly meetings are conducted.
